Commission Philosophy and Process
I love doing commissions that are within my artistic practice or even outside it! If you like what I do and are interested in owning or gifting piece of my art, I would love to make it happen! Commissions are a great way for me to stretch my practice, but I will only accept commissions that I believe I am the best artist for and that I can practically take on (I am a pretty busy person and sometimes I just don't have time to make a quality piece that I am proud of).
If you do decide to work with me on your commission I will have at least one phone conversation with you about the project to make sure that we are on the same page. Topics we will discuss are your budget, your timeline, desired materials, the size, the colors, and any design or meanings that you want to be conveyed. If you want a figurative piece I will require photo references. Your piece even with photo references will not look like the photo. Please send me the absolute best photos. The better the photo the better the artwork; I can only infer so much. I often work in more impressionistic styles and colors which make the piece have a life of it's own (you are getting a painting or drawing after all). After the initial consultation I will request a %25 down payment. I will then create a sketch of the piece and present it to you in-person or a photograph. At this stage you may tweak anything about the piece or start completely over. However, after the sketch has been discussed, and the final piece is in progress, I will not do any major edits. After I feel that the art is finished I will not do any edits to the piece unless there is a repair that needs to be completed. I will then invoice you for the final payment and the shipping fee if necessary and your piece will be ready to love for years to come!
I am in contact with an extensive network of working artists, so if I am not the right artist for your project, I can connect you to someone better!
